FAQs

Why do I need a broker?

We save you time, put our expertise and specialist tools at your service, and costs you nothing. Why not use a broker?

How do you get paid - is it out of my pocket?

In short, no, lenders pay out of their pockets so you don't have to dip into yours. The slightly longer answer, is that we work on a commission only basis. This means that lenders pay us when you decide to take out a loan with them through us. So we get paid when we get you the finance you're looking for.

There are some circumstances in which we will charge an upfront fee, but this will be discussed with you in advance and is usually because the nature of the assistance you need means we won't get paid from a lender. You will never receive a surprise bill from us.

Do you recommend lenders based on commission?

No. That would be a terrible business model for us and, since January 2021, it would also be contrary to our statutory obligations.

There is some variability in the amount of commission different lenders pay. But don't worry, we aren't looking at those differences when we are recommending a loan for you. We look at what is the best fit for you based on what you tell us about your needs and objectives, and recommend a loan based on that. The new statutory obligation has simply codified the way we already worked - putting your best interest first.

Do you really need to know all of that?

We are a little like a matchmaker. We have to get to know you so we can match you up with a lender that both has what you want and wants what you have. So yes, we do need to know all of that!

What rate can you get me?

Everyone, understandably, wants to know what rate we can get for them. Unfortunately, there is no quick answer for this question because it will depend on your answers to our questions in the getting to know you phase. Until we know more about you we don't know which lender and loan is going to be the best fit. What we can promise, is that we always look for the best rate we can get for you, and then we negotiate for an even better rate.

When should I get in touch with you?

As soon as you start thinking about purchasing or refinancing, even if you're not sure if you're ready. This will give you more choice of lenders as we won't have to just go with whichever lender can get the loan approved in 24 hours. We will also work with you to get you finance fit, work out how much you can spend, and get pre-approval in place so you can shop with confidence.
